1- What is coaching?
Coaching is a process that uses the best concepts from business, sports, education, psychology, philosophy, and spirituality to help you improve any aspect of your life or achieve any project you want to accomplish. Coaching is a process of self-actualization that enables you to create the changes you want to see happen in yourself and in your life.
2- Why does coaching work?
Most people hire a coach because they want to feel more in charge of their lives. They also want more and better things in their lives. Coaching works because it allows you to create a safe and open space to consciously create the things and experiences you want for yourself and only those. Coaching uses powerful questioning techniques and attentive listening to help you find the solutions and resources within you. Finally, coaching focuses on solutions, not problems, and it uses the present to create your future.
3- How does coaching work?
Coaching starts with you telling me what you want to create or change. Then we meet or connect weekly or bi-weekly. We start the overall process by reviewing your values and ideals and we put in place an action plan that is in alignment with them. Each time we connect, we review your progress, discuss the next steps, take care of obstacles, distractions, or setbacks, and move on to the next step of your plan until its full accomplishment. Yet I am also available to you from session to session to help you deal with any pressing need.
4- What is a coach?
On one hand, a coach is a generalist who uses the best of many disciplines to help you create the changes you want in one or more aspects of your life. On the other hand, a coach like me is a process specialist. I act as a sounding board, a mirror, a catalyst, a motivator, a guide, a facilitator, a partner, a clarifier, a co-creator, a questioner, a safety net, a truth-teller, and a presence that supports you to manifest who you want to be.
5- Who hires me as a coach?
The world around us changes so quickly and is so complex that we often have difficulty staying in control. Yet many of us not only want to keep up with life’s fast pace, we want to move ahead and experience the best that life has for us. We want to feel better about ourselves, break through our limitations, and realize our fondest dreams, but we are not always sure that we have the expertise, stamina, confidence, or resources to do so. People who hire me are normal well-adapted individuals who want to achieve personal dreams or professional goals. They specifically want more power to create the prosperity and the life experiences they want for themselves. They also call on me to help them manifest such dreams and personal growth because they need assistance to uncover and overcome the unconscious limiting beliefs that sabotage their efforts and frustrate their ability to manifest a better life and the greater abundance they desire.
6- What credentials do coaches have?
Coaches who belong to the International Coaching Federation, as I do, have achieved high standards of certification through accredited training schools. However, the most important credential that a coach should have is an ability to be present for others, to connect with them, and to care enough to believe in the best for people.
7- How is coaching different than counselling, consulting or therapy?
A consultant is an expert in a given field that can provide you with specific solutions to some well-defined problems. A coach is one who believes you are the expert of your life. Thus, he will help you find the answers and resources within you to create the things and experiences you want for yourself. A counselor or therapist will help you overcome a past hurt or problem so you can function normally once more. A coach will help you tap your personal power to break through your present limits and manifest your ideal future.
8- What can I get from coaching that I cannot get with a friend or family member?
You may have a friend or a family member that you trust implicitly to always tell you the truth and support you no matter what the situation. Good for you if this is the case. However, most of our friends and family members do not have the training to truly listen and move you to the realization of your dreams. Also no matter what, they are not impartial because they are related to you. It is normal that they may have something to gain or lose from any change you make in your life. A coach is paid to be impartial. We have no vested interest in any of the choices or actions that you take for your life. We just want what you believe is best for you. Your success is our success. Your friends and family members are also used to see you in a certain way and it is often difficult for them to see you otherwise. A coach will simply reflect and hold up to you the highest vision they perceive of you.
9- How much does it cost?
I have a couple of different pricing options for you that we can discuss to suit your needs and budget. However, the real question you have to ask yourself is how much is the realization of a dream or the actualization of your potential worth to you, and how much is the cost of not having them achieved. Think about it especially if you have been trying unsuccessfully for years to achieve them or if you are ready to move forward now and want to insure your success.
10- Why do people pay in advance?
I ask you to pay in advance to show your commitment to the process and your willingness to succeed. From a practical point of view, this ensures that we dedicate our sessions to coaching and not payment arrangements. Finally, you are at no risk since you may quit whenever you want with a week's notice if you believe coaching is not for you, and I will reimburse you any unused session.
11- How soon can I expect to see results?
It depends entirely on you. You may see results right away after our first meeting if you act on the insights gained. Or it may take a while for you to integrate new ideas and see changes in your life. The coaching process mirrors life. The more energy, focus, and persistence you put into it and the faster and more significant your progress will be. My promise and contribution to you is to motivate, guide, and support you to the best of my abilities to help you achieve your goals as quickly and as easily as possible.
12- How long do people need to work with a coach?
Coaching is not a quick fix. It usually takes time to accomplish something worthwhile. Do not expect to realize a major dream or life change in less than 3-4 months. Some people work with coaches for 1 year or more when they want continuous support through a major life transition. As a coach, I want you to succeed as quickly and as powerfully as possible. The last thing I want is to create a dependency. Keep in mind that if you enter a coaching process, you are always in charge, deciding where it goes, and when it ends.
13- What type of commitment do I need to make to work with a coach?
I ask of my clients that they be willing and ready for their coaching. This means paying on time, keeping their appointments, being ready for our calls, being present during our session, being truthful with me and themselves, and showing their commitment by following through on the tasks or homework they have selected for themselves.
14- What are the differences between coaching in person or over the telephone?
People coached over the phone often do not feel as pressured or intimidated by the presence of the coach. This results in greater openness and truthfulness and allows for very effective coaching. Phone coaching also saves time and is convenient for long distance coaching relationships. Face-to face coaching allows for a very intense and personal experience. We create an actual space that allows for a powerful connection and creative time. Visual cues add to the exchange.
15- Do you provide assessments and other types of testing?
I use the Wheel of Life test and my own Prosperity test as diagnostic tools to get us started. These tests are available freely on this site. I use other assessment tests as needed. However, these tools are only to support the main work that happens in our time together.
16- How do I know that coaching is right for me?
A coaching process is a personal commitment and a financial investment on your part. The best way for you to know if it is right for you is to have a free trial session with me. The trial session gives you an opportunity to find out whether we can relate well to each other. Similarly, for me it is a way to ensure we can work together so I can keep my promise to you to support you the best possible way. The only risk you are taking in a trial session is finding out about the wonderful life and prosperity that awaits you… If you have more questions about the coaching process, or you are ready for your free trial session, do not hesitate to call me or e-mail me.
